SHOWCASING BIRMINGHAM 2022 TO THE WORLD

Commissioned by Culture Central on behalf of Birmingham City Council and the DCMS, the Birmingham 2002 handover segment was staged both live during the Gold Coast 2018 closing ceremony and as an ambitious live single camera broadcast from Victoria Square in Birmingham.

Featuring a volunteer cast lip dubbing to ELO’s Mr Blue Sky the live broadcast was brought together in eight weeks by a talented team of creatives, producers, designers and broadcast & live event specialists.

Working closely with Culture Central, Progress Productions, Lloyd Live Design and the Birmingham Hippodrome, Dock Street Events delivered technical & event infrastructure and event management for the live broadcast.
