In 2013, Chris helped to deliver a ground-breaking performance of Benjamin Britten’s best known opera, “Peter Grimes”, as part of the Britten Centenary celebrations.
The award-winning production was staged on Aldeburgh beach – the place that inspired Britten to write the opera. Working in challenging conditions, with shifting shingle and regular tides, Chris delivered Leslie Travers’s stunning stage designs for the performances.
Chris worked with the orchestral team to provide an innovative solution to the challenging conditions, which meant using a live orchestra would be impossible. The solution involved recording the orchestra, creating a high quality multi-track recording, which was co-ordinated with the live musicians and singers during the performance.
